HVAC and Engineering Design for Aerospace Manufacturing Facility

Southern MEP was awarded a $19M contract to install the HVAC and ductwork systems for Pratt & Whitney’s 1.2 million-square-foot jet engine manufacturing facility. Our team was responsible for the installation of Rooftop Units (RTUs) and provided design-assist engineering services for the production areas and office space. Early BIM coordination was crucial for the project’s success, allowing us to create 3D models of the entire system for seamless installation and coordination.

In addition to the HVAC system and ductwork, Southern MEP managed the installation of refrigerant piping and complex environmental controls to support the sensitive requirements of jet engine production. The use of BIM allowed for precise coordination and minimized conflicts on-site, while the HVAC and controls system ensured that both production and office spaces met the demanding environmental standards needed to ensure operational efficiency.
