Advanced Materials Building and Specialized Process Equipment Installation

Southern MEP played a critical role in the development of GE Aviation’s 172,000 sq. ft. Advanced Materials Building in Asheville, NC.

In Phase 1, our team provided comprehensive engineering and construction services, installing the building's HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems. These systems were designed to support the advanced manufacturing processes within the facility, ensuring seamless integration with future operations.

Following the successful completion of Phase 1, Southern MEP was awarded contracts for both Phase 2 and Phase 3. Phase 2 involved the installation of process piping and electrical infrastructure to support GE’s proprietary process equipment.

In Phase 3, we oversaw the installation of GE equipment, including a clean room, furnaces, and production robotics. Our scope included the installation of an 1,800 GPM cooling tower, pump skid, boilers, all-new piping, and a filter system, along with all associated process piping. By ensuring that all electrical and piping connections were precisely executed, we provided GE with a fully integrated system that supports their advanced manufacturing processes.
