Advanced Manufacturing Facility with Cutting-Edge Engineering Solutions

General Electric’s new 160,000 sq. ft. Advanced Materials Workshop (AMW) in Greenville, South Carolina, required highly specialized systems to support its production of ceramic and metal composites. 

Southern MEP was selected to design and install custom HVAC, plumbing, and process piping solutions tailored to meet the unique demands of this advanced manufacturing environment. The project’s scope included integrating new chiller and filtration systems, process equipment installations, and specialized ventilation systems to support the facility’s 3D printing and composite material processes.

In addition to the HVAC and plumbing systems, Southern MEP employed Building Information Modeling (BIM) and Coordination tools to streamline the design and installation process. The result was a state-of-the-art facility equipped with sophisticated building controls and a fully integrated process piping infrastructure. The project’s success enhanced GE’s ability to produce innovative materials while ensuring efficient and reliable operations.
